Digital Media Intern

Gain startup experience! Ruby Sampson is a rapidly growing utility fashion brand for women with natural hair. The Designer is located in downtown Washington, DC and is looking for a Social Media Intern to assist with content strategy, platform management, and implementation. Founded in February 2016, the brand has received national recognition and has earned a presence at coveted cultural festivals such as New Orleans Natural Hair Expo and Afropunk Brooklyn. The designer is looking for the right candidate who is goal-oriented, punctual, and a creative story teller to assist in communicating the brand world. This position reports directly to the Designer and works with a small, dynamic team. Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Social Media:

  • Assist in social media strategy and implementation
  • Monitor industry blogs, forums, and social networks and draft commentary/response
  • Post content, news, and announcements in a timely manner using appropriate content on following platforms
    • Instagram
    • Snapchat
    • Twitter
    • Facebook
    • Pinterest
    • Periscope
  • Complete other social media projects as assigned

Digital Media

  • Assist in new website launch end of 2016/early 2017
  • Take product photography and videography for website and social media accounts
  • Regularly observe online activity using Google and Shopify Analytics, as well as social platform tools


Creative self-starter who is comfortable taking initiative and working in a collaborative environment

Detail and goal oriented individual

Creative storyteller with strong written and verbal skills

Proficient in photo and video editing software a plus

Advanced familiarity with social media platforms indicated above


This is a part-time, unpaid internship with opportunity for course credit
